I am from the fortress city of Kharkiv. At the beginning of March 2022 I voluntarily joined the 127th TDF Brigade. In the first year of the war I fought first in the infantry and later as a gunner in a mortar battery. I participated in combat operations in Kharkiv and the oblast, and fought near Bakhmut. Later I managed to transfer to the Airborne Assault Forces — to the 78th Separate Airborne Assault Regiment "Herts." At the end of October 2023, during combat duty shifts at the firing position near Mala Tokmachka, I was wounded. It was night, and I was on duty with a radio in anticipation of combat work. I heard the outgoing fire of enemy artillery… A second — and it seemed to me that I had fallen asleep... Darkness alternated with dreams, memories, and unclear images... Fragments shattered the humerus and radius of my left arm, partially crushed the elbow, tore out a great deal of muscle, severed the thumb, and crushed the bones of the palm. On the left leg, most of the quadriceps was torn out, and there was a closed fracture of the ankle. On the right arm, part of the middle finger was severed. The skull bones were fractured, and I sustained a second-degree traumatic brain injury. Burns and fragments covered my entire body. I also sustained extensive damage to the nervous and lymphatic systems in the left limbs. The treatment was difficult and lasted almost a year. I underwent 19 surgeries on my leg and arms. I was taught to walk again, my basic adaptation and self-care skills were restored. This was a difficult and painful path of recovery. In recent years I have been constantly engaged in rehabilitation and adaptation — both independently and with the help of rehabilitation specialists. The minimum task is to adapt to civilian life, master a new profession, the maximum task — I want to prepare to return to my fellow soldiers. And for this I need to learn to run again, jump, balance, squat, and maximally restore the functionality of my left arm. Recently I found the "Markiv Rehab" rehabilitation center. And for me this became a new hope. I heard things that were very important to me: my left arm is capable of more. The leg is capable of compensating for the absence of part of the muscles, and I can work toward running again.

In 2024 I voluntarily joined the Defense Forces of Ukraine. During this time I participated in combat operations in the Donetsk and Sumy directions. On March 14, in the Pokrovsk direction, during a rotation, my three fellow soldiers and I came under attack from an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle. I have a severe injury to my left leg: lacerated wounds, fractures of the femur, and numerous fragments in both lower limbs. I survived, and now my fight continues in rehabilitation. My main task today is to restore the functioning of the knee joint and the leg as a whole. I am currently undergoing recovery at the "Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center" of the NCSPI. The first course has already been completed. In one month I was able to completely give up crutches. But much work still lies ahead to restore mobility to the leg. That is why the rehabilitation needs to continue. Unfortunately, I cannot manage on my own, so I am compelled to ask for help.

Denys Denysov
I am the mother of Senior Lieutenant Denys Denysov. In 2020 Denys graduated from the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National University of the Air Forces. That same year he signed a contract and began his service as a senior aviation technician as part of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, known as the "Ghost of Kyiv." From the first days of the full-scale invasion, my son carried out combat missions. On July 10, 2025, the enemy was conducting a massive combined missile attack on the airfield. While carrying out a combat mission, Denys together with a fellow soldier was in a shelter when an enemy "Shahed" struck it directly… My son sustained extremely severe combined injuries: flame burns of degree IIA–IIB covering 12% of the body surface, burns to both thighs and hands, to the upper and lower respiratory tract, acubarotrauma, damage to both eyes and to the cornea of the left eye. Due to carbon monoxide poisoning, cerebral edema developed. Denys was in a coma, connected to a mechanical ventilator. A tracheotomy was performed on him. Due to severe intoxication from combustion products, kidney problems began, followed by pneumonia and sinusitis. He received nutrition through intravenous drips, underwent surgeries, numerous surgical treatments, and autodermoplasty of the burn wounds. My son spent two months in intensive care… And my Denys survived…
Then came seven months of rehabilitation. Denys learned to sit, to correctly transfer from the bed to the wheelchair, to wash in the shower, to eat independently, to speak, to write. For a healthy person these are simple things that they never even think about. And for my son each of them became a great achievement, behind which lie incredible efforts. Today Denys is already speaking a little. The consequences of the wound remain very severe.But despite everything he has been through, my son has the desire to move forward. What Denys wants most of all is to become independent, to return to activity, to learn to work, to start a family, to be a support for his loved ones. For this he needs specialized long-term rehabilitation at the "AGAPE" rehabilitation center.

On April 12, 2022, I was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I served in the 108th Kodatska Brigade. On December 27, 2025, returning from a combat mission, we came under a strike from an enemy "Lancet." There were three of us in the vehicle: the driver, myself, and one more serviceman. Our driver was killed. I survived.
As a result of the strike I sustained a severe traumatic brain injury with significant hemorrhage into the brain and numerous shrapnel wounds to the body… The doctors said that achieving significant recovery would be extraordinarily difficult, and that returning to the condition I was in before the wound would no longer be possible. My leg responds to me very poorly, there are problems with arm coordination. The consequences of the severe injury affected my emotional state and the functioning of my body, including the gastrointestinal tract. There was severe pain in the shoulder, thigh, and leg. I am not asking for my life to be returned to what it was before the wound. I want to do everything possible to regain as much independence as possible. Right now for this I need specialized rehabilitation at the "Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center" of the NCSPI. After such a severe wound, time and quality rehabilitation are of enormous importance.

Serhii Sydorenko
My husband’s name is Serhii Sydorenko. He is a serviceman of military unit T0500 and has been defending Ukraine since June 2024. At that time he already had health problems. He had medical grounds on which he could have tried to avoid military service. But he he went to serve. During his service Serhii carried out combat missions in the Pokrovsk, Chernihiv, and Sumy directions. On June 19, 2026 my husband was in the Sumy direction, carrying out a combat mission. At around two in the morning he got up to get some water. His fellow soldiers found him already paralyzed in the “kitchen” area. Serhii had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. After this, the fight for his life began. Serhii underwent craniotomy twice. There was a coma, mechanical ventilation, a feeding tube, and a tracheostomy. Unfortunately, the surgery did not produce the expected result, and a lengthy and extremely difficult fight for life and recovery lay ahead for Serhii. Today my husband is undergoing rehabilitation at “Feofaniia.” His path is very difficult, but we already have our first great victories. Not long ago at all, Serhii could not breathe, eat, or sit independently. Now he already breathes and eats on his own, sits, stands, and together with the rehabilitation specialist is taking his first steps. But one more extraordinarily important stage of treatment still lies ahead. Serhii needs cranioplasty — a surgery to install a plate/implant on the skull. After the craniotomies that were performed, a portion of the skull bone is absent, and so its integrity needs to be restored. It is precisely to purchase this plate/implant that I am today compelled to ask for help and open a fundraiser.

I began my service in July 2022 in the ranks of the 104th TDF Brigade. At first our unit was stationed on the border with the Republic of Belarus. But the time came when we were sent to the East. We were near Chasiv Yar. Later we were transferred to Kherson Oblast. After Kherson Oblast we moved to Kharkiv Oblast, to the Kupyansk direction. That is where I was wounded. On August 31, 2024, at approximately 17:00, our group of fellow soldiers came under fire. The first strike concussed and slightly cut with shrapnel almost everyone. I did not hear the second strike. I felt a terrible blow and plunged into darkness. As if I had died… Thanks to the electronic warfare unit that covered us from drones, the commanders who planned the evacuation, and above all those daredevils who rushed in on an ordinary pickup truck, all of us — both the living and the dead — were evacuated. After CT and X-ray, a great number of fragments were found in the face, around and in the eyes, in the neck, and in the upper part of the torso. There were complex fractures of the bones of the left forearm in several places and significant soft tissue damage to both arms. Surgeries began immediately. There were no longer any prospects for saving the vision of the right eye, so the doctors focused on saving the left arm: excision of necrotic tissue, skin grafting on the large affected areas, and suturing of the cleaned wounds. The external fixation device was dismantled. Then the bones that had not healed were assembled and fixed with internal plates. That was how my path of recovery began. From February 2025 I underwent rehabilitation. I worked extensively with an occupational therapist, because I wanted to restore the functions of the arm to the maximum extent. Thanks to the specialists of the center, a great deal was achieved. The arm became stronger. New movements appeared. From the new year, due to personal circumstances, I did not undergo rehabilitation. To the extent possible I occupied myself with household matters.
But eventually this progress stopped…
Today my arm does not bend and extend fully at the elbow. Movements of the forearm that allow turning the palm upward and downward — are practically absent. The wrist extensor muscles are very weak, so under load the wrist bends inward. Due to finger contracture the grip remains incomplete.
But I already know that rehabilitation works.
In order to rise to a new level in recovery, I need an intensive specialized rehabilitation course at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of the NCSPI. The rehabilitation is paid for. That is why today I am compelled to ask for help.

In a course of many years the Prosthetics Support Project in Ukraine has been helping Ukrainian prosthetists and rehabilitation specialists to develop and grow. This is an unbiased, non-profit project, the purpose of which is to develop the domestic industry of prosthetics and rehabilitation. The project brought new knowledge to Ukraine and Ukrainian specialists know how to work with components of different manufacturers and how to provide the patient with such a product that will allow him/her to return to the most natural way of life they used to have. Continuous consulting assistance is provided to both specialists and patients who need prosthetics; the Project specialists directly participate in trainings on the latest technologies; components for patients are selected taking into account the recommendations of foreign specialists with extensive experience.
The goal of the UNBROKEN center is to help Ukrainians remain UNBROKEN and get all the necessary help here, in their own country, near their families. The center provides physical, psychological and social rehabilitation. Each person receives not only a prosthesis, but also returns to a full life.
The centre has many years of practical experience in prosthetics. Since 2014 the institution has been engaged in prosthetics for the ukrainian military, using the world's leading prosthetics technologies, conducting rehabilitation programs, manufacturing any prostheses of the upper and lower limbs at any level of amputation using quality components from global manufacturers — Otto Bock ( Germany), Fillauer (USA), Touch Bionics (Great Britain).
