I am originally from Africa. I came to Ukraine in 2023. I did not consider it fair that Ukraine was attacked and that Ukrainians were forced to suffer simply because they wanted to decide for themselves how to live in their own country. During my service I participated in combat operations near Lyptsi and Kupyansk in Kharkiv Oblast, in Sumy Oblast, and in the Pokrovsk and Zaporizhzhia directions. In "Khartiya" I served as a group commander and senior mechanic. One day our medical position came under fire from Russian artillery. We received a call for the evacuation of the wounded. I got into the vehicle and set off to pick up the guys.
We found the wounded and took them. But on the way back the vehicle hit a mine. As a result of the explosion, I lost my right leg, my right arm, and part of the fingers on my left hand. In addition, I sustained multiple shrapnel wounds to the head, face, chest, and limbs, a traumatic brain injury, burns to the face and both eyes, and damage to the right eye. Today I am undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. I have already undergone surgeries to form the stumps of the amputated limbs, autodermoplasty (closure of the soft tissue defect) on the left hand, and ophthalmic surgical interventions. Ahead lies a lengthy recovery and preparation for prosthetics. Due to the high-level amputation of the right arm and the complete absence of all fingers of the left hand, I require outside assistance in daily life and everyday activities. Prosthetics of the fingers of the left hand will give me the ability to independently perform the most basic daily actions right now. It will also increase my chances in the future of properly mastering prostheses: putting them on independently, using them, and operating their functions. That is why the most important thing for me right now is a prosthesis for the fingers of the left hand. Without it I will not be able to begin the next stage learning to walk with a leg prosthesis.
The full cost of the prosthesis that suits me is 1,071,180.97 UAH. Taking into account the state payment of 171,459.00 UAH, the remaining cost amounts to 899,721.97 UAH. As of now, a portion of the amount has already been partially raised, and 551,837.83 UAH still needs to be collected. For me this amount is beyond my means, so I am compelled to ask for help.

Soldier Vladyslav Shmalionov, call sign DZHONYK
I am the mother of Vladyslav Shmalionov, our DZHONYK. When the full-scale invasion began, Vlad voluntarily went to the military recruitment office. In May 2022, he was sent to defend Lyman. Then came the difficult front roads of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts, including the Pokrovsk direction as part of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade. In August 2025, Vlad sustained a severe traumatic brain injury and numerous injuries to internal organs and limbs. The doctors gave minimal chances of survival. He underwent decompressive craniectomy, sustained severe lung damage, multiple rib fractures, bilateral pneumothorax, a ruptured spleen, and severe injuries to internal organs. The consequences of the injuries remain extremely severe today. He also has a non-united fracture of the left humerus, underwent numerous surgical interventions, and remained in critical condition for a prolonged period. Today Vlad needs to relearn how to maintain balance, to restore the use of his hands, to relearn how to think, speak, and perform actions that are ordinary for each of us. From May 25 to June 14, 2026, Vladyslav is scheduled to undergo specialized health and rehabilitation activities at the “AGAPE Ukraine” rehabilitation center. The program includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, as well as gym sessions. It is this rehabilitation that offers a chance for further recovery and the return of lost skills. But for our family, covering all the necessary costs on our own is very difficult.

Soldier Oleksii Stetsenko, call sign is MALYI
I am 22 years old. I am a machine gunner of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar”. On May 15, 2025, I signed a contract and stood up to defend Ukraine. I served in Donetsk Oblast. I received my first wound while carrying out a combat mission near Selydove. An enemy FPV drone struck our vehicle. I sustained shrapnel wounds to my arm and leg. Some of the shrapnel remained in my body. After treatment and passing the Military Medical Commission, I returned to the ranks. On February 8, 2026, while carrying out a reconnaissance mission near Stepanivka in Kramatorsk district, our group was conducting a clearing operation of a trench line. During the withdrawal from the position, I was wounded. I did not cry out. I simply fell, applied a tourniquet to myself, grabbed the machine gun, and continued to fire at the enemy. A few dozen meters later, a 120-millimeter mortar shell exploded nearby. The fragments severely damaged the left side of my torso and my leg… The doctors of Kramatorsk fought for my leg. An external fixation device was installed on me. Then came Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, numerous surgeries, complications... I could not get up from the bed. Then came the wheelchair, crutches, and the first steps, which came with incredible difficulty. Today I continue to learn to walk. Every day I fight with pain, weakness, and the consequences of severe limb injuries.
I need specialized rehabilitation at the “Markiv Rehab” medical center. It is there that I have a chance to restore the functions of the damaged limbs, return to a full life, and continue my path.

Soldier Oleksandr Pustovid, call sign HRUSHA
I am the father of Ukrainian defender Pustovid Oleksandr Oleksandrovych, call sign HRUSHA. Oleksandr voluntarily joined the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He said that he could not stand aside when the country needed protection.
During his military service, my son developed health problems that led to an acute cerebrovascular accident. According to the conclusions of the military medical commission, in October 2024 Oleksandr suffered an ischemic stroke as a result of thrombosis of the right internal carotid artery. The doctors fought for his life every minute. He underwent thrombectomy, decompressive craniectomy, prolonged treatment, and numerous surgeries. A titanium plate was subsequently installed. Long months of hospitals, pain, uncertainty, and exhausting struggle for every movement lay ahead. Today Oleksandr has already done what seemed impossible just recently: thanks to the doctors and his own willpower, he has begun to walk again. But the consequences remain very severe. The left arm still does not function. Oleksandr has problems with coordination and balance. His speech remains sluggish and requires constant work with specialists. The left eye does not function. Every new movement, every word, every small step forward is the result of enormous effort. Right now Oleksandr is in vital need of specialized rehabilitation at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of the NCSPI. It is there that he will be able to receive comprehensive assistance. Unfortunately, our family is unable to cover all the costs on its own.

Soldier Volodymyr Vitvytskyi, call sign FANERA
My combat path began in May 2023. Without rotations, I carried out combat missions until February 2025. Spirne, Ivano-Daryivka, Klishchiivka, Nykanoryvka, Dorozhnie, Vilne, Novyi Donbas — these are the settlements where, together with my fellow soldiers, we held the defense and destroyed the enemy.
During this time I was awarded the medal “For the Defense of Ukraine,” the distinction “Golden Cross,” and the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree. I received my call sign “FANERA” after being wounded in 2023. At that time, the blast wave threw me several meters… I recovered for a long time, but returned to the ranks. Daily work with artillery, multi-ton equipment, constant physical strain, wounds and concussions had been destroying the joints for years, but the left knee suffered the most. A recent MRI revealed severe irreversible changes. The knee joint is practically destroyed. The cartilage tissue is almost entirely lost, and the bones are gradually breaking down due to constant friction against each other. Today every step is accompanied by pain. After examinations and consultations, doctors concluded that the only effective way to restore mobility and eliminate the constant pain is total endoprosthetic replacement of the left knee joint. The surgery itself will be performed by doctors free of charge. But to carry it out, a high-quality knee endoprosthesis must be purchased. And here I cannot manage on my own, so I am compelled to ask for help.
This surgery will give me the opportunity to walk normally again without constant pain, to return to a full life. This is a chance to remain in the ranks.

I am a junior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On February 16, 2017, I made a decision that changed my entire life. From childhood I dreamed of becoming a paratrooper, and I did everything possible to make that dream a reality. After completing training at the Airborne Assault Forces training center, I became a BTR-80 driver. In the autumn of 2017, our rotation headed to Avdiivka to the legendary Promka and the Donetsk Filtration Station. Then came the Mariupol direction, Vodiane, Talavikka, the Kurakhove direction, Mariinka, Novoaidar, Shchastia… When the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, our rotation became indefinite. We worked where it was hardest: Siversk, Lysychansk, Bakhmut, Soledar, Kramatorsk, Dobropillia, Pokrovsk... After many years of service, I was diagnosed with bilateral aseptic necrosis of the femoral heads. Because of this condition, every movement is accompanied by pain…Doctors determined the only path to returning to a normal life — endoprosthetic replacement of both hip joints. The surgery itself will be performed for me free of charge. For the surgery, it is necessary to purchase two high-quality hip implants that will be able to serve for many decades and will allow me to move fully again, work, and live without constant pain. Unfortunately, the cost of such implants is extremely high. I am not able to cover such a sum on my own, and so today I am compelled to ask for help.

Leading prosthetics company, which manufactured and fitted its first prosthesis in 1992. Presently, the head of the company Oleksandr Stetsenko and his team manufacture upper and lower limb prostheses of any complexity for different degrees of amputation, using the most advanced technologies in the field of prosthetics.
In a course of many years the Prosthetics Support Project in Ukraine has been helping Ukrainian prosthetists and rehabilitation specialists to develop and grow. This is an unbiased, non-profit project, the purpose of which is to develop the domestic industry of prosthetics and rehabilitation. The project brought new knowledge to Ukraine and Ukrainian specialists know how to work with components of different manufacturers and how to provide the patient with such a product that will allow him/her to return to the most natural way of life they used to have. Continuous consulting assistance is provided to both specialists and patients who need prosthetics; the Project specialists directly participate in trainings on the latest technologies; components for patients are selected taking into account the recommendations of foreign specialists with extensive experience.
Help Army is one of Ukraine's largest and most visible volunteer aid organisations supporting the Ukrainian military. It provides technical, material, medical and other assistance to soldiers, as well as support for the demobilised, children of demobilised parents and residents of affected communities. It operates in co-operation with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. Through the charitable foundation "Kharkiv with You" established by Help Army, the latter carries out various humanitarian projects. In particular, the Help Army's Music Battalion has been active since 2014 and it has held about 1,000 concerts on the front line. Help Army was awarded the non-governmental Order "People's Hero of Ukraine" (2015), and members of the organisation were awarded state and non-governmental awards.
