I am a husband and father of two children — a 14-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. I was first called up in 2023, but was returned due to health restrictions. At the beginning of 2024 these restrictions were lifted, and I was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 46th Airmobile Brigade in Donetsk Oblast, in the Kurakhove direction. Near Maksymilianivka we came under a strike from reactive artillery — a “Grad.” I immediately understood that I had been hit. Due to severe blood loss I lost consciousness. At that point I did not yet even know that the fragments had also struck my head. In Zaporizhzhia I was stabilized. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast surgery was performed on my head and some of the fragments were partially removed. Then came Kyiv Oblast — a month of treatment while the wounds were being cleaned. After that I was evacuated to Lviv Oblast. There surgery was performed to close the defects in the head. Then came rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN center. A year has passed since the wounding. I was given a Group 1-B disability and discharged from service. As a result of the wounding, both hemispheres of my brain were damaged. The right side was partially paralyzed, the left — completely. Currently the right leg partially engages during walking, while the left does not. I still cannot independently transfer from the bed to the wheelchair. In Poltava Oblast, due to a shortage of the necessary specialists and equipment, my rehabilitation has effectively come to a halt. I need specialized rehabilitation at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of the NCSPI. It is for this reason that I am compelled to ask for help.

The beginning of the full-scale war caught me abroad. At the beginning of March 2022 I returned to Ukraine and joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I served in the Separate Presidential Brigade. In 2022–2023 I fought in the Bakhmut direction, and in 2024 — in the Svatove direction. On September 16, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission, I sustained a severe mine-blast injury and a severe spinal cord injury. I now move in a wheelchair. Right now rehabilitation takes up a great deal of strength and time. I am learning to live with the consequences of the injury and want to learn to do as much as possible on my own. I understand that much work lies ahead and that there is no quick path here. I am learning to live anew. The next important stage for me is specialized rehabilitation at the “AGAPE” rehabilitation center. The program includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, gym sessions, as well as psychological and social assistance. For me this is an opportunity to continue working on the strength, activity, and skills necessary for an independent life.

In 2022, from the very beginning of the full-scale war, I stood up to defend Ukraine as a mobilized volunteer. During my service I sustained more than one wound. The most severe occurred while carrying out a combat mission in Chasiv Yar. During the deployment of our unit, an artillery shelling began. Two 120-millimeter mortar shells exploded next to me. I sustained shrapnel wounds and a concussion. I made my way to shelter on my own, provided myself with first aid, and for approximately another three to four hours continued to carry out the combat mission…
After the wound, my left arm began to go numb. Approximately half a year later, the first stroke occurred. I survived it, recovered as best I could, and continued to work. In mid-2025 a second stroke occurred. The left side of the body began to go numb again. And again I recovered in order to return to work. At the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, a third stroke occurred. I partially lost my vision, memory, mobility, and sensitivity of the left side of the body.
During an examination at the hospital, doctors discovered an aneurysm, as well as foci of the consequences of concussions and the strokes that had been suffered. I was referred to the Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery, where a complex surgery was performed — a craniotomy and clipping of the aneurysm… I very much wanted to regain what I had lost. Movement. Sensitivity. Memory. The ordinary feeling of my own body. But for a long time there was almost no noticeable result. Eventually our medic brought me to the “Markiv Rehab” Medical Center. And it was there that for the first time in a long time I felt that I was truly coming back to life. The body began to respond better to the work, and along with this, faith in my own strength returned. My nearest goal is to complete one more specialized rehabilitation course at “Markiv Rehab”. It is precisely to pay for this course that I need help today.

I serve in the active operations unit of the GUR MO “KRAKEN.” My first combat mission was the liberation of my native village of Ruska Lozova. Then came Pytomnyk, Prokhody, Donbas, and Kharkiv Oblast again. During the Kharkiv counteroffensive I sustained a severe wound. A mine exploded next to me. Four of my fellow soldiers were killed. I sustained a concussion and shrapnel wounds. After all the surgeries, approximately 50 fragments still remain in my body… I returned to my unit, but could no longer go on assaults, so I gradually transitioned to UAVs and continued to serve.
But the consequences of that wound remained with me. In the right knee — two fragments and a damaged cruciate ligament. In 2024 surgery was performed on me: the fragments could not be removed, the ligament was sutured. But during another mission I re-injured the knee — the ligament was overstretched. Recently I underwent yet another surgery: the overstretched ligament was removed and a new one was made. And now I again need professional, high-quality rehabilitation at the “Markiv Rehab” Medical Center. I have already undergone a great deal of treatment, surgeries, and recovery, but right now it is very important not to stop halfway and to give the knee the opportunity to fully recover after yet another surgical intervention. That is why I am compelled to ask for help.

From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion I have been in the military. I first served in the Territorial Defense Forces, then joined one of the units of the Air Forces. But I dreamed of joining the Special Operations Forces. I successfully finished a qualification course and joined one of the units, where I carried out combat missions in Kursk Oblast.
On February 14, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission, I stepped on a mine — a detonation occurred, I sustained a traumatic amputation of the right leg at the level of the middle third of the thigh. After the detonation I did not lose my alertness and immediately applied a tourniquet to myself. The evacuation lasted more than six hours…
After the re-amputation, already the next day I got onto crutches and began to walk. I learned to walk on a prosthesis with a 3R85 knee joint and even climbed mount on it. After lengthy treatment, rehabilitation, and prosthetics, I returned to the military and am now once again carrying out the tasks set before me. I currently use a Genium X4 - a high-functionality thigh prosthesis using the latest technologies with an electronically controlled knee joint. However, for my service and level of activity I need an additional Challenger prosthetic foot. I have already tested the Challenger and felt the difference. It is soft and suited for active movement and walking. For me this is not simply a matter of comfort. I need this foot in order to be more mobile while carrying out missions, to continue my service, and to remain useful. Unfortunately, the funds provided by the state prosthetics program were not sufficient to cover this need. That is why I am compelled to ask for help.

Soldier Oleksandr Tymoshenko, callsign SNIPER
My name is Olena. I am the mother of Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Tymoshenko, callsign SNIPER. Oleksandr served as a marine in Feodosiia. After completing his service he returned to civilian life. On the first day of the full-scale invasion he came to me and said: “Mama, tomorrow I am going to war.”
Oleksandr fought in the most difficult directions — Huliaipolie, Donetsk Oblast, Luhansk Oblast, the Sievierodonetsk area.
During the battles near Bilohorivka, after an enemy shelling, his fellow soldier was severely wounded. Oleksandr rushed under withering fire to save his friend. He carried him on his back to his bunker, called for help, and essentially saved his life. And just a moment later, an enemy shell landed on my Sasha’s position… I will never forget the day I first entered the intensive care unit. The doctor said only a few words: “Very serious condition. Head wound. Operated on. Coma.”
There were surgeries, treatment, and lengthy rehabilitation. But the fight is not yet over. Today Oleksandr is already walking a little, but for now this comes with great difficulty, he speaks almost not at all — only individual words. Right now it is extraordinarily important for him to undergo two courses of specialized rehabilitation at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of the NCSPI. The main goal of this rehabilitation is to stimulate independent walking with a quad cane both indoors and outdoors, as well as the further restoration of lost functions after the severe head wound.

An All-Ukrainian modern centre for prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and psychological support for adults and children affected by war. The first stage of the centre was opened on 14 April 2023. The centre will employ more than sixty medical specialists. It is planned to treat about 3,000 patients annually. Superhumans uses a comprehensive approach to treatment and seeks to change the perception and psychological approach to Ukrainians who have suffered complex injuries and lost limbs. The prostheses will be manufactured and assembled in-house - the prosthetics laboratory was created with the participation of the leading German company Ottobock. The rehabilitation department has a large swimming pool and multifunctional physical therapy equipment.
Help Army is one of Ukraine's largest and most visible volunteer aid organisations supporting the Ukrainian military. It provides technical, material, medical and other assistance to soldiers, as well as support for the demobilised, children of demobilised parents and residents of affected communities. It operates in co-operation with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. Through the charitable foundation "Kharkiv with You" established by Help Army, the latter carries out various humanitarian projects. In particular, the Help Army's Music Battalion has been active since 2014 and it has held about 1,000 concerts on the front line. Help Army was awarded the non-governmental Order "People's Hero of Ukraine" (2015), and members of the organisation were awarded state and non-governmental awards.
The centre has many years of practical experience in prosthetics. Since 2014 the institution has been engaged in prosthetics for the ukrainian military, using the world's leading prosthetics technologies, conducting rehabilitation programs, manufacturing any prostheses of the upper and lower limbs at any level of amputation using quality components from global manufacturers — Otto Bock ( Germany), Fillauer (USA), Touch Bionics (Great Britain).
