I have been a contract serviceman since October 2021. Until 2024, I served in the city of Marhanets, and later transferred to combat military unit A4820. On April 2, 2025, while at a position in Donetsk Oblast, I sustained a severe spinal injury. I underwent treatment, rehabilitation, endured pain, and believed that I would be able to return to normal life and service. In June 2025, during a Military Medical Commission examination, doctors discovered a spinal hernia. A complex surgery was recommended, along with the installation of a transpedicular spinal system (TPS), which was meant to stabilize the damaged spine and provide a chance for recovery. However, due to a sharp deterioration in my health, I agreed to the surgery without the installation of the TPS... But already on the 20th day after the surgery, I was struck again by severe pain. During a repeated Military Medical Commission examination, the worst became known — a hernia recurrence had occurred, and further treatment without the installation of the TPS is no longer possible. Today I continue to serve in the combat unit. Even despite the restrictions imposed by the Military Medical Commission, and constant back pain. Today I am compelled to ask for help. To carry out the treatment and stabilize the spine, a set of implants for the transpedicular system is required. I am unable to pay for it on my own. This system is my chance to avoid disability, to move normally again, to live without constant pain.

Before the full-scale war, I worked as a long-haul truck driver. February 24 found me in Cherkasy. The road home to Lviv took a day and a half: there was no fuel, traffic jams everywhere, tension in the air… I am a former serviceman; I left the military back in 2004. So as soon as I got home, I immediately went to the enlistment office. I went to the Territorial Defense. In April 2022, I was already in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I served in the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade as a driver in the Donetsk region. On July 17, 2022, we came under enemy artillery fire with cluster munitions. That was the day that changed everything. I sustained severe injuries — traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. In the first days, the doctors gave no prognosis: whether I would survive, whether I would be able to walk. After four months of treatment, I was discharged from service due to my serious condition. I thought that a full state rehabilitation program would follow. But its capabilities are not enough for injuries like mine. Thanks to a fellow soldier, I first got to the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of NCSIU. It was there that they began helping me get back on my feet. I have already completed more than one course and I see the results. Now I move with crutches. To keep moving forward, I need another course of specialized rehabilitation at this center. But its cost is beyond what my family can afford. That is why I am forced to ask for help again.

I am a serviceman. On February 24, my family woke up to the sounds of explosions. Already on February 25, I was in the military. I served in the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade. My combat path ran through the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk directions. During one of the combat missions, I was wounded in the forearm and sustained a concussion. From that moment, my body began to fail — the first pain appeared in my hip joints. Evacuation, hospital treatment, and rehabilitation helped me get back on my feet — and I returned to the ranks. The constant carrying of heavy equipment, living in dugouts, and daily physical strain only worsened the problem that had started after the injury. The joint pain became stronger and did not go away.
Eventually, I turned to doctors and underwent examination. Diagnosis: bilateral coxarthrosis, stage III on the right and stage II on the left; combined contracture of the right hip joint; chronic pain syndrome. This means one thing — I need endoprosthetic replacement of both hip joints. Doctors are ready to perform the surgery itself free of charge. But it is necessary to purchase high-quality implants that will last for many years and give me a chance at a full life without constant pain. I cannot manage without outside help, so I am forced to ask for support. Thank you to everyone for your support!

I am a career serviceman. On April 5, 2021, I joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I completed my conscript service in the Separate Presidential Regiment named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky. I served as a radiotelegraph operator. On November 26, 2021, I signed my first contract. I became a rifleman, assistant grenade launcher operator. I met the war on alert — I arrived at my unit without hesitation. We defended Kyiv, the government quarter. From May 15, 2023, I was in the east — on the Avdiivka direction, near Krasnohorivka, close to the coke plant... On September 30, the first assaults began directly on my position. The enemy advanced on infantry fighting vehicles. It was hard. Then the mortar shelling began. I remember the blast… and how I was hit. A fragment struck my head… I regained consciousness for a few minutes. Everything around was roaring from explosions — mortars, artillery. My brothers-in-arms saved me… What happened next — I don’t remember. Coma. I don’t know how long I was in a coma. They say from three to ten days. I stayed in the hospital until October 24. Then — “Oberih” clinic, where they began to help me get back on my feet. At the beginning of May 2024, I was discharged from service due to my health condition. Now I live with the consequences of the injury — I have left-sided hemiparesis, essentially paralysis. I am learning to move again. Learning to control my arm, to take steps. It is hard. And it takes time. Right now, I really need specialized rehabilitation at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of NCSIU. It is a chance to restore movement, strength, and control over my body. But such rehabilitation is expensive. I cannot afford it on my own.

I am 24 years old. I joined the military back in 2019, because I have always believed that every man should go through this path. And when the country is at war, there is no other option. I fought in the south, in my native Kherson region — where every meter of land has special meaning. On August 23, 2022, at around 4:25 a.m., I was on combat duty. At that moment, russian troops struck our positions with artillery. I sustained a severe blast injury: damage to the spine and spinal cord, multiple fractures, and a spinal cord contusion. I remember crawling out of the tent myself after the strike, how paramedics picked me up… I could not walk. A wheelchair became my reality. Doctors gave cautious prognosis, because no one knew for sure whether I would recover after such a severe injury. But I had no intention of giving up.
First — a wheelchair. Then — two crutches. Today, I can already walk with one cane. I underwent rehabilitation in Modrychi for 10 months. I also completed a course at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center.” It was here that I truly began to regain my ability to walk and return to an active life. I also trained independently at home. My key goal is to completely eliminate my dependence on a cane. To achieve this, I need to significantly improve strength, endurance, coordination, reduce the risk of falls, and restore movement speed. I need an additional course at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of NCSIU. This is my chance not just to walk, but to return to the ranks, be useful, and continue my service.

It all started in 2022, when the full-scale invasion began. For five days I kept knocking on the doors of the TDF and the enlistment office… But they told me: “You’re too young, go home.” I was 19. I replied: “Alright. When you need me — you’ll find me.” A year later, a draft notice came to my workplace. I showed up to update my data — and on 23.02.2023 I was already in training. I joined the 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade, the 90th Separate Airmobile Battalion.
The injury happened suddenly. We were rotating at the position. We reached the evacuation point, quickly got into the vehicle. A fellow soldier and I jumped into the cabin. The driver hit the gas — and we moved out. The enemy mortar was already working on us. Then darkness. I woke up in Mechnikov Hospital. Then I remember being transported to Kyiv. I still didn’t understand what had happened to me… Then I began learning everything again. Speaking — syllable by syllable. My head hurt so much that I felt like I just wanted to take it off. They bought me a children’s primer, and I read it like a kid. From the beginning. Step by step. Then I started walking. The same way like a child. Holding on. Slowly. With support from my family.
Then rehabilitation began. To return to a full life, I need specialized rehabilitation at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of NCSIU. It is a chance to strengthen my body and regain control over myself.
Unfortunately, such rehabilitation requires significant funds, which my family cannot afford on our own.

Kyiv Institute of Rehabilitation is an outpatient rehabilitation facility aimed at providing a range of rehabilitation measures aimed at restoring a person's resources and returning him or her to a normal lifestyle, taking into account his or her personal potential. The clinic's activities are implemented through the involvement of a multidisciplinary team working in the following areas: orthopaedics, traumatology, neurology, cardiology, psychological assistance. Since May 2022, the clinic has been actively implementing rehabilitation of war victims.
Zakhydnyii Sports and Rehabilitation Center of the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine today is one of best institutions for rehabilitation of Ukrainian war victims with the result of its work being the high level of social, psychological and physical rehabilitation. The center has developed special methods of rehabilitation including those for the psychological one. Working side by side with rehabilitologists, Ukrainian paralympian athletes are actively involved in rehabilitation processes as well. Rehabilitation through sports has a significant influence on patients' motivation and great positive effect on their return to full-fledged life.
The goal of the UNBROKEN center is to help Ukrainians remain UNBROKEN and get all the necessary help here, in their own country, near their families. The center provides physical, psychological and social rehabilitation. Each person receives not only a prosthesis, but also returns to a full life.
