Soldier Leonid Drobot, call sign SHAKHTAR (Miner)

Yes, I am missing something, but I am alive, and believe me, life is beautiful!

My name is Leonid (Dmytrovych) Drobot, a native of Kirovohrad region, and I currently live in the village of Nemovychi, Sarnenskyi district, Rivne region.

I was born into a family of collective farmers. After school, I finished a vocational school and became a tractor driver. In 1990-1991, I did my military service in Moscow, where a coup took place at the time. After returning, I started working at the Vedmezhoiarska mine.

Later, I moved to the Rivne region, where my grandparents lived, and there I found my destiny - Svitlana. I worked at the Sarnnenskyi Meat Processing Plant, and later in Nemovychi at Bilchyk's private enterprise in curing of sausages.

In 2015, I took part in the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine.

When I returned, I found out that there was no work because the entrepreneur had died and the Bilchyk family had reduced the number of employees.

But, as the people say: "There is a God in the world", soon the Nemo entertainment and recreation centre, which is now famous throughout Ukraine, was opened. I started working there as a security guard, but as soon as the management found out that I had worked for 25 years in sausages manufacturing, I was offered a job as a kebab maker.

And then the war broke out...

I was called up for service. Soon I got an assault rifle in my hands and the call sign SHAKHTAR (meaning "Miner").

Later I got seriously wounded by a rocket. I got to Sloviansk and underwent my first surgery. I had numerous wounds to my abdomen, left thigh, and a shattered kneecap. I will have to live forever with the shrapnel, which is three mm from my carotid artery. The explosion damaged my spine, and it is the main cause of my condition. That is why now I need an electric wheelchair to move independently and be mobile.

Thanks to Dr I.V. Sobko, I survived, despite the fact that my chances were slim.

Later I was transferred to Kyiv. My arm was amputated there. When I came to senses, I saw that I had no arm. It became difficult. But at the same time, my Svitlana was sitting next to me and said: "It's nothing, you are alive!" She is my optimist. I thought that she was so right! After all, my family and friends are waiting for me at home, namely my little granddaughters, who are both three years old. They are the greatest treasure in my life.

I am currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Lviv Military Medical Hospital.

I am very grateful to the medical staff, volunteers, and caring people who support us, because the whole world rests on them. The main thing is to believe and remember that the ultimate beauty is the beauty of humanity!

DONE! Thanks to everyone involved!
