Soldier Petro Viskup

My brother's name is Petro (Mykolaiovych) Viskup, born on 11th January 1982.

When the enemy started a full scale invasion of our homeland, Petro had no doubt that he had to defend his native Ukraine. On 5th March 2022, he voluntarily mobilised and joined the National Guard of Ukraine.

After completing his training, Petro was sent to the East of Ukraine.

In September 2022, my brother performed combat missions near the village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region. On 19.09.2022, together with his comrades-in-arms, he was at the position and they found themselves under artillery fire. Petro was severely injured: he got a blast trauma, brain contusion, and a multi-fragmented fracture of the skull bones. In addition, a metal fragment is stuck in the right frontal lobe of his skull.

We are grateful to Petro's comrades-in-arms who rescued him, provided first aid and immediately evacuated him to a hospital in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. It was the precise and coordinated actions of the guys that gave my brother a chance to live. Petro was then transported to the Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital in Dnipro.

Now he is in a hospital in Ternopil. He has been fighting for his life for more than 9 months. After many operations, it is time to install a titanium plate, which is necessary for further treatment.

We are turning to the Citizen Charitable Foundation for help in purchasing the vital plate. We have great hopes for a full recovery, the doctors give good prognoses.

Petro has two children, two girls. I am sure he will fight for them to the end! Petro is a true Ukrainian warrior!
