Боєць Микола Лобур, позивний КАППА

My name is Mykola Lobur, call sign KAPPA. I am the Senior Sergeant of the 2nd Company, 1st Battalion of the 117th Mechanized Brigade. I have been in military service since March 2022, joining as a volunteer.

Over this time, like all my comrades, I have faced numerous military challenges, but a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia region near the village of Robotyne became a turning point for me.

During a mortar attack, I was struck so forcefully that I was spun around like a pendulum. I felt a heavy blow to my back, as if something massive had hit my armor plate. I realized I couldn’t move—my lower body simply stopped responding. I was evacuated quickly; reconnaissance soldiers from the battalion threw me onto a pickup truck like a sack—there was no time to lose, as my life was at stake. They transported me to the city of Orikhiv, where I received first aid.

I remained conscious for almost the entire evacuation.

What followed was a long road to recovery, and now my rehabilitation has begun.

After sustaining a severe spinal injury, I currently use a wheelchair but am able to take care of myself independently. Recently, I have regained some movement in my legs, giving me the prospect of walking again. This provides me with additional strength to continue fighting for recovery.

Currently, I am undergoing a medical board assessment and preparing for a rehabilitation course at the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center. I need to strengthen my pelvic muscles, restore balance, and acquire new skills for social adaptation. This rehabilitation will help me return to active life and discover new opportunities for self-realization.

My greatest dream is to be part of meaningful changes in our country! I aim to contribute not only on the battlefield but also to Ukraine’s future development. With your support, I believe I can overcome this critical stage of recovery and become part of the great transformation of our nation.
