Soldier Vadym, call sign CAP

My name is Vadym, I am 33 years old and before the full-scale invasion of the russian federation I worked as a chief investigator of our local police station.  I was the police captain and this is the rank you work towards to all you life – which I did as all my life I worked for the law enforcement agencies.  This is why my call sign is CAP.

On March 10, 2022 I was mobilized – by my own choice – and joined number 1 brigade of special forces named by Ivan Bogun.  Further on in April 2022 I fought near Troitske of Popasnianskyi district in Luhansk region.  The enemy forces there were at least tripled ours, with us being there on our combat mission we realized that their advantage, especially that of vehicles, heavy weapons and artillery is massive – yet, we had to fight no matter what.

On May 21,2022 at that 16-00 being under artillery fire on our positions I got  a serious blast injury with my spine damaged at L-3, bruising of nerve endings in this area and a penetrating gunshot wound of intestines.

The surgery took place on May 29, 2002, the splinters of my damaged vertebra were removed and the spine was stabilized with a titan system.  After the surgery I could only move around using a wheelchair.  Because of the severity of the injury even two years of rehabilitation have not got me back on my feet.  More to that I am in constant pain because my legs hurt a lot and I often have seizures that cause insomnia and would not let me lead a normal life.

As of today during the medical examination in the Institute of neurosurgery named by Romodanov in Kyiv medics confirmed that the system installed is not effective and needs to be replaced.  They also concluded that the part of my damaged vertebra causes stenosis of nerve roots resulting in unbearable pain.

Doctors recommend a surgery with the replacement of the spinal stabilization system, decompression of nerve roots and installing an implant to replace the broken vertebra.  This surgery gives me a chance to get rid of unbearable pain, improve functioning of pelvic organs and even legs.

Medical experts of the Institute of Neurosurgery are ready to carry this surgery out for free, however, we need to provide a set of implants for minimally invasive spinal stabilization and NX Medical corpectomy cage.  I therefore ask the fund and all non indifferent people for help.

Just like everybody else I dream of our Victory and Peace.  It would be cool to get back on my feet to play football with my son again.
