Marine Heorhii Roshka runs 42 km of the London Marathon 2024

21 April 2024. London Marathon 2024

I am a Marine serving in the Ukrainian Naval Forces.

I was deployed to the front in 2017 when I was 25.
From 2017 to 2020, I was part of the Right Sector Ukrainian Volunteer Corps reconnaissance group.
In 2020, I signed a contract with the assault battalion of the Marine Corps.

During the defense of Mariupol, I got my first injury, when a mine exploded near me and injured my leg.

Then - Azovstal.
On May 2, 2022, I took up a combat position despite my injured leg. Two days later, wounded again. My hand this time. A mine again. The following day, while inside the Azovstal bunker, my arm was amputated.

On May 17, 2022, by order of the Commander-in-Chief we surrendered our weapons and were taken captive.

On June 29, 2022, I was finally released and returned to Ukraine. Then recovery undergoing prosthetics, and rehabilitation, I returned to military service. Currently, I am serving in the Naval Forces of Ukraine.

I remained unbroken, as my relatives’ support did not let me break down.

And another motivating way to progress is sport. This is a way to adapt to normal life after injury.

My goal is to participate in the London Marathon, a challenging 42 km race. This is not only a test of my character, but also an opportunity for me to support my fellow brothers who were seriously wounded.

I collect for the long-term rehabilitation of severely wounded soldier Anatolii Zhumik, call sign VNUCHOK https://ctzn24.com/en/hero/64
