I come from Zaporizhzhia region. Almost at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the invaders came to our town. Life became, let's say, not as good as it used to be. So I decided to try to go to the non-occupied territories and defend the country.
It seemed easy, but it wasn't. Once you got to the military enlistment office, you had to sweat to get recruited. With the help of some good people that I knew, I managed to join the Armed Forces.
Before the full-scale invasion, I had no military experience, so I was immediately sent to Gvardiiske for training. This is where my service began.
When the training was over, I received an order that I be sent to the front line. Arriving to the frontlines, I began to serve in a separate reconnaissance platoon attached to the 17th Tank Brigade.

I fought for 8 months in the Kherson sector. We were sent on reconnaissance to very hot spots, but God was always with us, so no one from our platoon was injured. Our unit liberated many settlements along the way. We reached Bereslav. And that was the end of our service in the Kherson sector. We were withdrawn.

New guys were recruited to replenish the brigade and we were sent to Bakhmut. In Donetsk region, every day for a month we successfully completed all the tasks, but one day we were urgently taken away to defend against an attack from the russian federation.
The attack lasted for three days. We were losing our brothers, and on the 4th day I was also taken down. On 27.12.2022 I received a bullet wound. It pierced my lung and affected my spine at the T3-T4 level. After being wounded, I was evacuated to the first point as a wounded. Then I was sent to Kramatorsk, then to Dnipro, where I underwent several surgeries.

I have been undergoing treatment for a year now. At this stage, I am doing rehabilitation. Finally, the recovery has begun. My legs started to move, and I am starting to walk a little bit. However, there is still a lot of work to be done.
Currently, I need rehabilitation at the Zakhidnyi Rehabilitation and Sports Centre of the National Committee for Sports for the Disabled People of Ukraine.

The rehabilitation period will last for several months. But I am already trying to move long distances on my own, to be mobile, so I need an electric wheelchair with manual control.

Due to the change in the purchase price, the sum of the collection was increased.
COLLECTED AND TRANSFERRED: UAH 85 000
In May 2024, Oleksandr received a manually operated wheelchair (HECHT WISE RED).
Thanks to your donations, we have helped SAIGON to be more mobile.

After completing the main rehabilitation course, doctors confidently stated that SAIGON had no chances of walking again.
In April 2024, Oleksandr underwent new medical examinations. Based on the conclusions of the specialists from the Romadanov Institute of Neurosurgery, the treatment and rehabilitation program was changed.
There is already positive progress. Currently, Oleksandr has partially regained sensitivity and mobility in his lower limbs. With the help of a verticalizer, rehabilitation specialists are gradually increasing the load and working on restoring his gait.
According to clinical data, Oleksandr has high chances of confidently standing on his feet.
For this, with the financial support of Citizen Charity Foundation, he completed a 61-day rehabilitation course in "Svyatenko" Rehabilitation Clinic.
