Soldier Yurii Kravchuk, call sign is TYKHYI

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, I volunteered to join the army to defend Ukraine and Ukrainians!

But, unfortunately, on the 5th July 2022, near Kherson, I received a mine-blast wound, with the severance of two lower limbs above the knees, crushed bones in my left arm, and many burns all over my body.

I remember every moment. When my two legs were torn off, I felt almost nothing at first because of the pain shock. My comrades saved me. They did not get confused, they applied tourniquets. If it were not for the guys, I would have bled to death. All that time I was conscious, and was even trying to make jokes.

Then I was evacuated, taken to a hospital in Kryvyi Rih, where they performed all the necessary procedures. After that, I was sent to Lviv for further treatment.

During all this time, I survived three clinical deaths, memory loss, many surgeries, and a heart attack.

A lengthy treatment is behind me. Sophisticated prosthetics abroad. Lasting rehabilitation, which is still ongoing. I have learnt to walk again and have mastered the use of prostheses quite well. However, unfortunately, I can't move around on them for a long time, I get tired quickly, so I need someone to accompany me all the time.

To get around the city, I need a wheelchair with steering. This vehicle will allow me to be independent and mobile. The main thing is that I will be able to get to the rehabilitation centre without any obstacles and improve my physical condition every day under the supervision of specialists.

I thank God, my comrades-in-arms, my wife, and the doctors that I am alive!

My plans for the future are not fully defined, because the war is not over yet! But I do have one big dream - to have  Genium X3 prostheses.

The Citizen Charitable Foundation purchased a HECHT WISE BLUE wheelchair for Yuriy.

For normal hygiene procedures, Yuriy needs bathroom equipment: a swivel seat for the bathroom, a staircase with a handrail. In addition, he needs to change his crutches.

TRANSFERRED: UAH 6,634.40

Yuriy has an extremely complex double amputation of the lower limbs and other concomitant injuries, so he needs additional rehabilitation.

The soldier will undergo comprehensive rehabilitation on an outpatient basis for 28 days. During this time, he will receive consultations from specialised doctors (traumatologist, neurologist, and physical therapist). He will have daily sessions with a physical therapist and a psychologist, and undergo a course of body and stump massage. The rehabilitation is aimed at improving the skills of using prostheses, improving his general physical and psychological condition.

Along with Yuriy, his wife Nina also needs rehabilitation.

Nina is a soldier in the National Guard of Ukraine and serves on a contract basis.

Due to excessive stress and exertion, doctors diagnosed her with thyrotoxicosis. As a result of her illness, Nina is losing weight and has constant hand tremors. Now she needs rehabilitation.

Recovery from injury is much faster when defenders are with their families. Therefore, Yuriy and Nina will undergo a rehabilitation and recovery course together as part of the Family Support program.

The couple's rehabilitation will take place in Pavlohrad at the Crystal Medical and Health Centre.
