My name is Andrii. In connection with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, on March 9th, 2022, like many men from our country, I was mobilized in my native city of Novovolynsk. I was directed to the 14th separate mechanized brigade in Volodymyr-Volynskyi for military service.
We were transported from Volodymyr-Volynskyi to Kyiv region, and then to Kirovohrad region, in order to fully equip the brigade. There we underwent military training, after which our unit went to the Mykolaiv region to perform combat missions.
It was here on 7th April that we were under another round of shelling and I got a shrapnel wound. I am grateful to my fellow soldiers, as they provided first aid and evacuated me to the hospital in Bashtanka. There they amputated my right hand and installed a Ilizarov apparatus to treat the open shoulder wound. Within three days, doctors stabilised my condition, whereafter I was transferred to a regional hospital in Odesa, where I stayed for three months. But there were problems with the healing of my shoulder, the fractured bone would not coalesce. Eventually, I was transferred to Odesa military hospital. They performed another operation and placed a plate into it.
Now, I am continuing the treatment of my shoulder and am getting ready for bionic hand prosthetics. I hope to resume a full life without any limitations.
Currently, according to medical indications (problem with the shoulder), the fighter will be fitted with a mechanical prosthesis, not bionic, at the expense of the state program.
Funds collected for the KUM's bionic prosthesis in the amount of UAH 13,024.70 will be redirected to a prosthesis for a soldier with the call sign MARGARYN.
