Soldier Vasyl

Greetings! My name is Vasyl. 
On 27th February 2022, I was still on my road trip in Paris, because before the full-scale invasion I worked as a trucker. On 1st March, I was already in my brigade.

I had gained my first combat experience in the Caucasus during the Soviet Union times, so I didn't need any training, and there was no time to think. From the first day, I was appointed as a senior driver-mechanic in the motorised infantry battalion of the 24th King Danylo Halytskyi Brigade.

In our company, there were 80 per cent of volunteers for service returning from abroad, all of whom understood where to and why they were going to that purgatory. Many had never even held a weapon before the full-scale invasion. We taught the guys on the go. But they were true patriots... 

Most of them will always remain in the ranks.

Our brigade took part in the first battles in Popasna. Unfortunately, this town already turned into a ghost town. From the very first days, the orcs had a significant advantage in both artillery and the number of tanks. They pressured us with all possible weapons.

That's when I got hurt.
 

On the morning of 20th March 2022, during the shelling of Popasna with 120 mm mortars by the enemy, I sustained a mine-blast injury, traumatic complete amputation of my right shin and other injuries...

Then I have been to multiple hospitals, underwent lengthy treatment, rehabilitation and preparation for prosthetics.

It feels very offensive that there are still a lot of traitors and idle "Awaiters" in our land. Local, "innocent" people surrendered our positions. The partners who supply us with weapons always think long and hard. We lacked a lot of things, but we held on there...

My first thoughts after amputation were: "I have not won much, I will not be able to help anymore, I have necessary experience, whereas some of my comrades do not even have real combat experience..."

I have always been an optimist in life. I took my injury as another harsh challenge. I have to get up and move. The fact that I stayed alive means I am still needed for something, I still have to finish something in life.
 

Now Vasyl needs a modular type hip prosthesis with a four-axle knee unit of 4th mobility, with advanced functionality, a hip prosthesis for bathing of 1st, 2nd, 3rd mobility with a knee mechanism, for which the state programme does not allocate sufficient funds.
