Soldier Serhii Levchak, call sign TOR

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, I took part in the defense of Kyiv. Then came a pause: I was suspended from service due to health issues. I tried to return, but the only response I heard was, “no need.” Time passed, and one day I got a call — they told me I could join the army again. On June 30, 2024, I became a soldier once more. Almost immediately, I was sent to the Kursk region as part of the 80th Brigade.

On October 11, 2024, near the settlement of Sudzha, we were carrying out a combat mission. During the retreat, I was wounded in an explosion. I was conscious the entire time. I remember everything — down to the last second. And I don’t know where I’d be now if not for God. He is my only witness to those events.

Shrapnel tore through my body, and a direct hit struck my hip joint. I was left alone in the field, waiting for help. A friend from a nearby position came to save me. He heard about the injury over the radio, crossed the field, calling out, searching for me by my voice. That comrade carried me under shelling to the evacuation point.

What followed was long treatment.

Today, I am still fighting the consequences of that injury. I need a total hip replacement — otherwise, I won’t be able to walk. The surgery will be free, but I must purchase a high-quality implant at my own expense, one that will last for decades. Right now, I can only move with crutches, and only for short distances. This isn’t a temporary inconvenience — it’s life put on pause.

I cannot afford the implant on my own, so I am forced to ask for help to stand firmly on my feet again.I dream of simple things: my own home, a family. But most of all — of returning to the ranks. After recovery, I want to serve in the “Ptakhy Madiara” unit. That gives me meaning and faith in the future.

The fundraiser for Serhii has been successfully closed! The implant for the hip replacement surgery has been paid for, the operation has been completed, and rehabilitation is underway. Serhii is already taking his first independent steps toward recovery after a severe injury and surgery.

There is still much work ahead — training, rebuilding strength, and returning to a life without pain. But the most important thing has already happened: he now has a chance to live fully again.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed — through donations, shares, or kind words. You’ve helped our defender take his first steps toward healing.
