Soldier Bohdan Antokhov

My name is Bohdan. I am the commander of an engineering and sapper unit, mobilized in April 2022. I wasn’t looking to be a hero — I simply knew I had no moral right to stay on the sidelines. War came to my home, and I had to face it. I had to protect my family, my friends, and my country.

My combat path took me through Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. In the fall of 2022, we were liberating Kharkiv Oblast — I remember how hope began to appear on our faces then. But the war goes on. And it takes its toll.

On July 15, 2024, on a hot summer day, we were carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region. The enemy hit us with a dense and precisely targeted artillery strike. One of the fragments struck me directly in the knee. In that moment, everything around me froze. I applied a tourniquet and bandaged my leg myself. I didn’t feel pain — only one thought: “Is this the end?”

But fortunately, it wasn’t. My brothers-in-arms pulled me out of that hell. And then a new battle began — the fight for every day, for every step. The fragment shattered my knee joint. My kneecap and part of the femur were destroyed. Pain became a constant companion. After numerous consultations, the doctors gave a clear verdict: I need a total knee replacement. This is the only chance to return to a full life — to move without pain.

The surgery will be done free of charge, but I need to purchase a high-quality implant that will last me for decades. Unfortunately, I can’t afford it on my own, so I’m turning to all kind-hearted people for help.

The cost of my treatment is high. Every contribution is a step toward my recovery — toward the ability to walk again and get out of bed without pain.

This war has shown that compassion is our greatest weapon.

And if you’ve read this far — you’ve already become a part of my journey.

Thank you. For your support. For your faith. For life.

The fundraiser for the hip replacement surgery for defender Bohdan Antokhov has been successfully completed! The necessary implant has already been purchased. The surgery (which will be performed free of charge) is scheduled and will give Bohdan a chance to return to a full life.

The implant is of high quality and will last for decades, ensuring not just the absence of pain but a truly active, dignified life — without limitations, without constant suffering, once again on his own two feet.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed — through donations, shares, or kind words.
Thanks to you, we’ve once again been able to make something important happen.

We believe that ahead lies a path forward — toward health, toward a dignified life after injury.
