Soldier Oleksandr Pizhor, call sign NIMETS

My name is Oleksandr Pizhor, call sign NIMETS. I am a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, mobilized in April 2024. Like thousands of Ukrainians, I took up arms to defend my land, my loved ones, and my country.

After training, I was assigned to the 58th Brigade in Donbas. The first battles began, the first wound. There was treatment, there was rehabilitation, and then – a return to my unit. Because how could it be any other way? I knew my place was alongside my comrades.

Then came the Kharkiv direction. And here, fate tested me again. During a combat mission, I sustained an injury that now prevents me from walking. Doctors say I need a hip replacement. Only surgery will allow me to fully live again and move freely. The operation itself will be performed free of charge, but I need to purchase a high-quality implant (manufactured by Medacta, Switzerland) that will last a long time and enable an active lifestyle.

I have been through war, seen pain and loss, and have never asked for help for myself. But now, I need support, so I must turn to those who care.

The fundraising campaign for the purchase of a hip joint implant for defender Oleksandr Pizhor, call sign NIMETS, has been successfully completed!

The implant was purchased and delivered to the medical facility, where Oleksandr underwent a free surgery to have the prosthesis installed. He is currently recovering from the procedure and will soon begin a rehabilitation course.
