My name is Taras Tymchyshyn, a soldier in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign BARABAS. I was born in 1994. In February 2023, I voluntarily reported to the Ivano-Frankivsk Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Like many of my comrades, I wanted to defend my family, home, and our Ukraine from the invaders.

In April 2024, I suffered severe injuries during military service as the result of a car accident that drastically changed my life.

For nearly two weeks, my life hung by a thread, with breathing supported by a ventilator, and my condition was critically grave. After numerous surgeries and stabilization, on May 30, 2024, I was transferred to the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Western Region in Lviv, where I underwent a series of complex operations.
Every day was a battle for survival, and only through the efforts of the doctors and the support of my loved ones was I able to pull through.
Later, I began rehabilitation in Truskavets, where I am currently working on regaining my strength. However, progress is slow because movement in my legs is limited due to constant pain. I cannot fully straighten or bend my knees and ankles, and while movement in my shoulder is possible, it is accompanied by pain.

All I dream of is to fully recover and return to service so I can continue defending Ukraine and my loved ones.
The road ahead is long, and for this, I need your support. Zakhidnyi Rehabilitation and Sports Center, where I plan to undergo a complete recovery course, offers hope for returning to a normal life. Every contribution brings me closer to my goal—to stand on my feet again and continue fighting for our freedom.
Thank you to everyone who helps me in this difficult but crucial stage of my life.

The rehabilitation fundraiser for Taras has been successfully completed!
BARABAS underwent a 30-day course at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” of the National Sports Committee of Ukraine (NSCU) and achieved significant progress in restoring mobility.
Specialists at the center worked on improving his independence and functionality in daily activities, addressing contractures in his lower limbs, and restoring his ability to move independently using a walker without the need for a functional wheelchair. All objectives were successfully achieved, as confirmed by the test results at the beginning and end of the rehabilitation course:
Taras has made remarkable progress. The ability to move with a walker significantly enhances his quality of life and opens new rehabilitation prospects.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this fundraiser. Your support is a true pillar for our heroes in their pursuit of recovery and a return to full lives.

The first 30-day course at the “Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center” has shown significant results: Taras has regained some mobility, improved coordination, and learned to be more independent.
However, a follow-up course is necessary for full recovery, focusing on enhancing walking speed and endurance, reducing the risk of falls, and developing skills for navigating stairs and uneven surfaces. Rehabilitation specialists have set an ambitious goal — to completely eliminate the need for an elevator so that Taras can confidently move on his own.
There is still a long road ahead, but his determination to return to a full life and possibly rejoin the ranks remains unwavering. To achieve this, he needs support — every contribution brings him closer to new accomplishments and the return of his independence.
