My name is Bohdan Kapriyan, callsign PSYKH. I am a senior lieutenant, a war veteran, and a person with a 3rd-degree disability. Currently, I command a company in a training battalion. I have a family—a wife and two children. Before the full-scale war began, I worked abroad to provide my family with a home.
When the war started, I couldn’t stand aside. I was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine and trained at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Academy of Ground Forces. After my training, I was assigned to the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, where I became the commander of a reconnaissance platoon, responsible for our positions.

In July 2022, while carrying out a combat mission during the offensive on Kherson, near Sukhi Stavky, I sustained serious injuries. However, after treatment, I returned to service. But in September 2022, during an artillery shelling near the village of Bezimenne, I was severely wounded again. I was evacuated to Bereznehuvate and later transferred to the town of Dobroslav, where I underwent prolonged treatment.

I remember little about the moment I was wounded because I lost consciousness after a building collapsed on me during the shelling. I woke up in the hospital and couldn’t believe I had survived. Life changed after that. Now, I move with the help of crutches. Walking has become a painful challenge, and I feel constant discomfort even while sitting or lying down. The doctors diagnosed me with persistent combined contractures of both hip joints, stage two deforming osteoarthritis, and spinal osteochondrosis complicated by intervertebral disc protrusions.
To return to a normal life and continue serving, I need to undergo surgery to replace both hip joints (I need an endoprosthesis Medacta, Switzerland). This would not only relieve the pain but also allow me to return to my duties—training mobilized cadets. I want to stand on my feet again and continue serving my country, doing what I can to achieve Victory.

Bohdan required endoprosthetics for both hip joints due to severe injuries sustained in combat. However, doctors decided to proceed in stages: so far, only one endoprosthesis has been implanted.
Thanks to the support of caring individuals, he is already taking his first steps toward a full recovery.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the fundraising and supported Bohdan on his journey to recovery.

Bohdan has taken another important step toward recovery - he has successfully undergone his second hip replacement surgery. Now that both joints have been replaced, he has begun intensive rehabilitation to return to duty as soon as possible. Despite the difficult journey, Bohdan remains determined and has already set a goal for himself - to once again stand side by side with his comrades.
We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to raising funds for the implants! Your support is not just financial assistance, it is a real chance for recovery and a new life for those who defend our country and each of us.
Let’s continue helping together! Many more heroes still need support on their path to recovery.
