Soldier Ivan Chornyi, call sign CHORNYI

Ivan Chornyi is a man who dedicated his entire life to serving Ukraine. Born in 1993, he dreamed of helping people from a young age. After obtaining an education in firefighting, he began serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On October 11, 2016, he started his military service, and by March 21, 2017, he signed a contract with one of the logistics units, where he served in a fire protection company. Responsibility, courage, and dedication to his duty brought Ivan to the front lines. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and earned the status of a combat veteran.

But his story didn't end there. In the summer of 2022, on his own initiative, Ivan transferred to the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade. This decision became pivotal in his life.

On September 23, 2022, during a combat mission near the village of Karpivka in the Donetsk region, Ivan sustained severe injuries. A traumatic brain injury, brain contusion, subdural hematoma, and a frontal bone fracture became a harsh reality for this young man. He fell into a coma, and his life hung in the balance.

The road to recovery is long and difficult. From Izium to Kharkiv, from Kyiv to Tsybly, Ivan has gone through numerous hospitals and surgeries. The bleak prognosis from doctors, coma, multiple pneumonia cases, surgeries—all of this is now behind him. The tireless work of medical professionals and the support of his loved ones have shown results. Ivan is fighting for every step towards recovery.

For some, simple tasks like unzipping a jacket or writing a letter on paper may seem trivial. But for Ivan, these are the results of enormous daily efforts. Every movement, every new day is a victory.

Since July 3, 2023, Ivan has been undergoing rehabilitation at the Modrychi Medical Center. Rehabilitation is expensive, and the family has already spent all their savings. But they are not giving up. Ivan needs support to continue his fight. His family has reached out to the "Citizen" charity foundation for help with further rehabilitation.

Ivan's story is one of true strength, courage, and resilience. Every contribution, every hryvnia, is a step towards his recovery.
