My name is Oleksandr Mykolaiovych Terstuiakh, birth date - 07.02.1969.
My family and I lived in an urban-type settlement Manhush in Mangush district of Donetsk region.
I started to defend my country back in 2017, served in the 503rd Marine Infantry Battalion as a junior sergeant.
On June 19th, 2018, during a combat mission, an RPG grenade arrived. One of my legs was immediately torn off, and my right arm was severely injured, I received many burns.
I am grateful to the doctors, as they saved my life, put my arm together, but, unfortunately, they could not save my second leg, it had to be amputated.
The recovery process was long and arduous. My heart stopped two times.
But, in spite of it all, I have now been walking with prostheses for three years, driving a car with a manual transmission.
I try to be an example for my children. My wife and I have fathered twin boys. All in all, we are raising six kids. I have a son from my first marriage and my wife has three children of her own. We have already got two granddaughters.
With two prostheses it is difficult to do some mundane things, such as taking a shower. Now I need a special aid - a bath board.
